Actress banned from Iran for nude shoot says it was a 'symbolic gesture'

Golshifteh Farahani, the actress who was banned from Iran for posing nude in a French magazine, has said she did so as a "symbolic gesture" to help remove taboos.

A photograph of Miss Farahani standing naked in a studio was published in the latest edition of Madame Le Figaro magazine. The publication has attracted a wave of visitors to her Facebook page from Iran and the Middle East.
A message posted on a Facebook site linked to the actress later carried a statement in which she explained her decision to take part in the Figaro shoot."This video clip is a symbolic gesture to remove the common taboos that exist in various societies and does not aim to promote nudity or sex," it said. "By taking part in these photo shoots the people taking part wish to demonstrate their redemtion from these taboos by the way they act and talk.
"The objective is to liberate their soul and bodies at the same time. As long as an individual has no power iver her or his body and their soul does not have the command of the way they wish to think, then they do not have a true freedom."The Paris-based actress left Iran last year in protest against restrictive Islamic codes that the Iranian cinema industry has to follow under Ahmadinejad's conservative cultural policies.
The agency revealed Iranian officials had been shocked by her decision.
"It was first assumed that this might be yet another plot by the enemy but the disaster dawned when she herself published her nude photo on her Facebook page," it said.
"By doing so she has now diminished whatever popularity of her that had remained in Iran. It seems that her action is a short film and in line with the Western plots to challenge the Islamic Awakening movement that is sweeping the region."
A second website, Sarat, which has links to radical elements of the clergy, published a poster showing Miss Farahani burning in the fires of hell - where it said she would reside for eternity. The text said: "Those who turned infidels have been misled by the despots who have managed to turn them away from the light and lead them to darkness. They belong to the fires of the hell and shall always stay in there."

VEENA MALIK-FHM NUDE PHOTO SHOOT


In the notice sent to the magazine, Bilawala said that during the course of discussions for a photo shoot for the magazine, the editor allegedly suggested that Malik wear a tattoo on her arm with the letters ‘ISI’.
He further alleged that Malik was made to understand that it would be good for her image and the tattoo will not have any repercussions. In the published photo, Malik is shown wearing no clothing, but with her arms and legs discreetly positioned to keep her covered while her arm sports an ISI tatoo. The magazine could not be reached for comment.

Bilawala alleged that Malik was assured that no nude photograph would be shot. He further stated that the actual photo was taken with Malik in a bikini with hot pants and a broad belt. After the shoot, she was shown the picture in which she had covered her upper body with her hands. “Our client states that the photographs which are being circulated and published in the magazine and internet site of the magazine have been deliberately tampered with or morphed with a view to cause wrongful gain to you and cause wrongful loss to our client,” Bilawala said in the notice.

He alleged that Malik consented to the publishing of the pictures after being assured that they were the same ones showed to her after the shoot. It was only on December 2 that she got to know that her naked photographs were published on the internet site of the magazine. “Our client was shocked, astonished and embarrassed to see the said photograph which is published all over the world,” Bilawala said. He said the picture had caused damage and harm to Malik’s reputation in India as well her country of birth and the world.

Well, there it is, Anushka. Your first shoot for MAXIM. We’re pretty excited... this is something we haven’t tried before. How do you feel? Are you on Cloud 9?
I’m very happy about this shoot. The whole experience was very different and I haven’t done something like this before either. Trying to fit into different characters in still form was fun and I had a good time doing it.
You’re used to playing different characters… after all, you’re an actress! But how was the experience of doing it for a single shoot? We reckon it
couldn’t have been easy.
It was totally spontaneous. The concept of the different characters was interesting but it had a bit of uniformity because the basic concept was very sexy. And you have to be fi t to pull it off.


You’re as fit as anyone we’ve ever seen. You were a popular model and you’ve had a fi lm debut every actress would dream about and none of your movies have turned out to be stinkers. How has the B-town journey been so far and what are you looking forward to?
I really enjoyed my days as a model. But now I’ve begun to realise that I’m better being an actor. As an actor, you get to do a lot more than just look good all the time. And I’m fortunate to have had good projects come my way and in the range of people that my fi lms have attracted. I
understand that a lot of people would want to be where I am today. I’m very thankful, but I also feel responsible for my work and try to find characters or nuances in characters that the common man can relate to.


What do you look for in a man? 
I’d want to be with someone who’s extremely secure as a person. Someone who can deal with the success of his woman and doesn’t get upset seeing her get the accolades! I’d also like my man to give me strength and stand by me.
Man, that’s deep. We were looking for some easy, smooth stuff. No matter, we’re on it. But if you were to date us, what would be your dos and don’ts?
Well, that’s easy. I’d like the guy to smell good, dress up well, clean up well and be courteous and chivalrous. A total gentleman. And I should be able to have a good time with him, no matter what, even if we are
just going for a cup of coffee. I can’t stand people who are too full of themselves and have a negative aura around them.


If someone approaches you in a pub and asks if he can buy you a beer, what would you say?
Honestly? I’d probably just laugh it off or, if he’s getting pesky, I’d just walk off.


We’ve noticed that women who’re from an Armed Forces family have an inherent hotness about them. We keep asking, but no one tells us the secret. Please help us out.
I think it’s got to do with the culture that we’re brought up with. Ever since I was a kid, I was treated at par with the men around me. That helps women in carving out their own individuality, I guess.


Ah, that sure makes sense. How do you manage to look so smokin’?
I don’t do anything special. I just try and be myself. And I don’t believe in following a pattern. The way you see me is the way I am!


We love the way you are. Wait, did we say that already? Who are the hottest women around, you think?
In Bollywood, it would have to be Kareena Kapoor and in Hollywood, I guess it’s Natalie Portman.


Those are good choices. What’s your favourite part about being a movie star?
I love the fact that life is not monotonous. It just doesn’t get boring.

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra born 18 July 1982) is an Indian actress and former Miss World. Before starting her acting career, she worked as a model and gained fame after winning the Miss World title in 2000.She is often referred to by the nickname "Piggy Chops", which was given to her by co-stars on the set of the film Bluffmaster
Chopra made her acting debut with the 2002 Tamil film Tahmizhan. The following year, she made her bollywood film debut with The Hero-Love Story Of A Spy and followed it with the hit Andaaz, for which she won a Filmfare Best Female Debut award. In 2004, she became the second woman to win the Filmfare Best Villain Award, which she received for her critically acclaimed performance in Aitraaz. Chopra would later have commercial success with films like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, (2004), Krrish (2006) and Don: The Chase Begins Again (2006). In 2008, Chopra received a National Film Award for Best Actress as well as a Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of a model in Fashion and has thus established herself as one of the leading contemporary actresses in Bollywood.
Early Life And Background
Chopra was born in Jamshedpur Jharkhand to Ashok Chopra and Madhu Akhauri, both physicians by profession. Chopra spent her childhood in bareilly uttar pradesh, Newton massachusetes and cedar rapid Her father was in the army and thus her family moved quite frequently. Her father hailed from a family of punjabi origin, settled in Bareilly and her mother comes from a family settled in jamsedpur She also has a brother, Siddharth, who is seven years younger than she is.
Chopra studied at La Martiene girls school in lucknow as a young girl. She subsequently re-located to the U.S. where she studied in Newton North High School in Newton, Massachusetts and then in Jhon F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She returned to India and finished her high school at Army School in Bareilly. She began college at  Hind Colege in Mumbai, but left after winning the Miss World pageant.
 Chopra's mother sent in pictures of her for the Miss India contest. When she got called to participate, she was surprised and did it mainly to take a break from studying. She came in second place at the Femina Miss India 2000 competition, winning the Femina Miss India World title. She was subsequently sent to the Miss World pageant, where she was crowned Miss World 2000. When Chopra won the Miss World crown, she became the fifth Indian woman to win the title, and the fourth Indian woman to win in a span of seven years.

January 04, 2012, (Sawf News) - Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra are close to wrapping Kunal Kohli's Next, a love story that is currently being shot on location in Aurangabad.
On Tuesday morning, January 3, Shahid tweeted:
"Last schedule for the film underway .... Will wrap it in 4 days ....... Been quite a journey ......... Its out june 22nd"
The film's leading lady, Priyanka Chopra reported on set yesterday after a year end vacation.
Filming began in May 2011, after Shahid Kapoor completed Mausam, his only release in 2011.




Looks like Beti B has already brought good luck to Amitabh Bachchan. The veteran actor has become the Bollywood celebrity with the highest number of followers on the microblogging site Twitter. Till a couple of days ago, the crown belonged to Priyanka Chopra. The Fashion actor was the Twitter queen, beating even Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan, with 18,46,557 followers. Priyanka Chopra, who looked really pretty at the airport, wrote on twitter: “In my way back home.. Planes!!A two day getaway with my besties was much needed! Off to aurangabad for Kunal kohlis film tonight.. Pheeeew.”
